QUESTION: In a strokes competition, Cain thinks that he will have a little fun and on the 17th teeing ground he tees up his ball on his wallet, which he has taken from his back pocket. What is the ruling?

A "tee" is a device designed to raise the ball off the ground. It must not be longer than 4 inches (101.6 mm) and it must not be designed or manufactured in such a way that it could indicate the line of play or influence the movement of the ball.
As long as the wallet is not longer than 4 inches, there is no penalty.

ANSWER: The fun is over for Cain as he incurs the penalty of disqualification. Rule 11-1. If a player makes a stroke at a ball on a non-conforming tee or at a ball teed in a manner not permitted by this Rule, they are disqualified.
