| I am staying in HDB EM. I have subscribed to Starhub max online with 100Mbps but I have problems with the wireless internet on my 2nd storey bed rooms. The starhub modem is installed on level 1 in my study room connected to a Linksys WRT54G wireless modem. I am getting very weak signal on the 2nd floor. What can be done to improve the wireless signal on the upper floor? Any idea how much to install wired cable to the second floor? Any advice is much appreciated. | |

| Bro, get a wireless repeater/extender(minor configurations involved), or you can try to change the antenna to a long range version.
hope this helps ! | |

| if are a DIY person, you can actually buy a long LAN cable from sim lim square, and extend it nicely from level 1 to level 2. But it is not easy. Getting contractor may cost you around $200 for this one time job.
Alternatively, you may try a stronger wireless modem. I ever saw one that can transmit signal strong enough to reach 50m of distance. So level 1 and 2 should not be a problem.

| I think I will buy a repeater first to try to boost the signal, if not last resort will try to get the lan cable and DIY. Thank you all bros for your valuable input and advice! | |

| There a PC show coming Thursday, may have good offer. Alternatively, you can try to place your WRT54 at the ceiling of your study room. | |

Place at the ceiling? Do you mean install bracket and secure upside down (like fire detector)?

| Place upright poistion on the wall before it reach the ceiling, sorry for the confusion. Better to use the 3M "commander" or get somone to hold it for you while you test the signal at 2nd level. If you find the signal is acceptable then you can fix it permanently. If it is still unacceptable then either get a repeater or a more powerful model. | |
