I played with a join flight golfer and he detest that Belly or long putter actually is a unfair way to putt. He mention that normal putting is like a any golf stroke...the arm connect the handle, the handle connect the shaft to the putter head. Just with all the irons. A classic 3 point connections
But the belly putter had the handle connect the belly with the arms all the way down to the putter head. So it a 4 points connections.
Told him as long the USPGA and the world R&R didn't banned it...than it is alright for anyone to used it. Guess it is one's like and dislike...

Alot of top players now changing to belly putter. I am also tempted to try.
I guess those who want to ban it are sore about it... Funny thing is Adam Scott used to be against the use of long putters and belly putters. Now, the fella won a tournament with a long putter...
Anyway... still very tempted to buy this...

I tried long putters at BFG today. Its a weird feeling. The obvious fact are:
Cons.. - I felt uncomfortable how my hands were holding the putter - I couldnt seem to be get my pendulum - I couldnt seem to find my rhythm - I need a mallet putter
Pros.. - My putts were just slightly over the cup - I stroke instead of jabbing the putts - The roll of the ball were visibly better - Easy to use...no brainier.
The cons were merely the fact that I am not used it and the length feels awkward. Other than that I have very good liking of belly putters.

I tried and have to agree with you. Need to get use to the pivot feel and long putt will need more practice.

My next purchase (hopefully soon) would be belly putter. I can recall that the stroke and roll of ball was visibly better than my normal putts. The best part, you remove jabbing out of the equation.
Its a very good product.

Actually you don't really need a mallet putter, take a look at the below video, the person in the video is Clay who is the creator of Bellyputt, he use a Blade putter to demo

Hoppie, from an alignment point and weight point of view. It makes more sense to use a Mallet.

Hoppie,
I almost bought the bellyputt until i came to know that it is not USGA conformance and should only be used as a practice tool. When you are in tournament, you need to take out the bellyputt or you may be risked being disqualified.
Time to buy a proper belly putter, but too bad very hard to find in Singapore as not many shop sell it. Another alternative is to take your current putter and reshaft it to a belly putter. Again not sure if there is any conformance issue.

Let me explain, the equipment will be conform as long as it cannot be adjusted during a competition with regards to bellyputt, if you were to use it during a tournament, there is 2 way you can go about it.
1) Put epoxy on the adjustment screw so that you cannot access to it during a tournament, if i am not wrong this applies to all adjustable clubs too, i heard the pros have to use something to cover up the adjustment point of R9, R11 etc to make it conforming.
2) The kit comes with a Tapered Sleeve which lets you regrip the whole putter to permanent Belly putter, you have to remove the putter grip and the Bellyputt grip, put in the taper sleeve and get a PRO shop to regrip for you, for now, you can do this at BFG. You can give Eric a call and he will explain to you.
Getting it regrip is still cheaper than getting it reshaft + regrip.

I talked to a forumer before, you be surprise how much does a long putter shaft cost I myself was shock to know the cost of it. A grip will only set you back 2digit the most
He is now a happy user of Bellyputt, not sure if you know him, his nick is Jon in GR.
