| Dear all, forgive me for being a newbie!
I got doubts here wish to clarify:
All from 1st shot:
a. went into water hazard, ball cannot be found: incur how many strokes penalty (pls be specific), next shot from where? Next shot will be Nth stroke?
b. went into water hazard, ball can be found: incur how many strokes penalty (pls be specific), next shot from where? Next shot will be Nth stroke?
c. went into OB, ball cannot be found: incur how many strokes penalty (pls be specific), next shot from where? Next shot will be Nth stroke?
d. went into OB, ball can be found: incur how many strokes penalty (pls be specific), next shot from where? Next shot will be Nth stroke?
thank u in advance!!! | |

thank u in advance!!! a. Water Hazard, 1 stroke penalty, next shot drop within 2 club lenght from nearest point of entry to water not nearer to pin. Next shot will be 3rd shot. b. Water Hazard, ball found in water, declare unplayable, 1 stroke penalty, next shot drop within 2 club lenght from nearest point of entry not nearer to pin. Next shot will be 3rd shot. c/d. Ob=Out of bounds, 1 stroke penalty, ball have to be play from last played position. In your case, you have to tee-off again as 3rd stroke. These are brief rules of golf, if you want to know more about the game, you can visit http://www.usga.org/Rule-Books/Rules-of-Golf/Rules-and-Decisions/Happy Golfing

| I tot this is similar from last question.
For question a & b, in order to be specific, first you must determine; 1. if you are virtually sure if the ball went into the water or not (this will determine whether to apply rule 26 or rule 27) 2. What kind of water hazard, yellow or red stake?(different requirements for placement of ball) 3. any drop zone(local rules)
Please refer to rule 26 for water hazard and rule 27 for lost ball / OB.
For question c & d is straight forward, OB means 1 stroke penalty and MUST play from last position, regardless if ball is found or not. it will be 3rd stroke from last position.

| For OB cases, if we didn't play a P ball and discovered that the 1st ball is lost at OB and normally we will just drop a ball there (not at the last played position), so this should be considered as 4th stroke right? | |

If you play by the Rule, you cannot drop a new ball where the old ball was lost. You have to go back to original spot and hit again, incurring one stroke penalty. But for social/weekend golfing, and to avoid delaying flights coming from behind, some players allow a new ball to be dropped near where the old ball is lost, and take a 2 stroke penalty (for stroke and distance). This is NOT playing according to Rule of Golf. It's players own rules.

| Yes, 4th stroke but only valid for social game so as not to delay play. If tournament, if your playing partner complain, you will be DQ. If he accept, then is I know, you know case. | |

Wah lau.. Bro Sam..you have the Golf Rule book in your Bag always ah!! Don't play play.. Very serious player!! No need lah.. We are all social player..if in doubt..just give the benefit of the doubt lor..ha ha. But I think it all depends on who you are playing with and what is at stake?! Golf is the only sports which you penalize yourself without somebody asking you to do it..If you cheat.. you are only cheating yourself !!!

Bro Sam..it's actually quite a good idea to carry along the rule book in the golf bag.. I was just joking.. But.. You will be surprise what some golfers carry in their bags just to ensure that the rules of golf are adhere to...UL will be able to tell this very amazing incident he encountered with this golfer...Please continue UL ....
