| The 2011 PGA Championship will continue to the weekend without Tiger Woods. Woods followed his opening-round 77 with a second-round 73 on Friday, finishing at 10-over 150 and well outside the cutline. It's the seventh missed cut of Woods' career on the PGA Tour, and his third in a major championship as a pro. Where Woods goes from here is a good question. He could enter next week's Wyndham Championship, and doing so is his only (remote) hope of getting into any of the FedEx Cup playoff tournaments. Woods has until the end of Round 2 of the PGA Championship to make that decision. Otherwise, his next scheduled tournament is the Australian Open Nov. 10-13 (he's also playing the one-day Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge on Aug. 31). He could choose to play a European Tour event or two in the interim, or visit the Japan Tour or Asian Tour. Or to take that entire time off and practice, practice, practice. The most surprising thing about Woods and missed cuts is not that he's missing the cut at the PGA Championship, but that he hasn't missed more cuts over the 2010-11 seasons. The way Woods gets talked about, you'd think he was missing the cut in every other tournament. Here's a look at Tiger's actual performance during his "wilderness period" of 2010-current: 2010 12 PGA Tour starts 1 missed cut 1 withdrawal 2 Top 10s 6 Top 20s Woods' two Top 10s were both majors (The Masters and U.S. Open). 2011 8 PGA Tour starts 1 missed cut 1 withdrawal 2 Top 10s One of Top 10s was again in a major, The Masters. Is it surprising to see that Woods has missed "only" two cuts over the past two seasons? It's not that Woods is playing terrible all the time, it's that he's rarely playing great. What these results tell us is that Woods has most definitely not been a bad golfer during 2010-11. He's merely been an ordinary golfer. A solid PGA Tour player but one who isn't among the elite. In other words, Tiger just hasn't been himself. The bigger issue is that he's getting these results without showing much (if any) signs of progress. Is that because the Sean Foley swing just isn't right for him? Is that because he's had too many injuries that have prevented him from working as hard as necessary to master the new swing? Or is there too much psychological scarring from his self-inflicted blow-up in late 2009? All of the above? What do you think? UL notes:- Hang on there Tiger..... | |

| As his name goes... woods... he must hit hay-wired long shots to the woods and hit it out to the green then got a chance to win... if he hit short and straight into the fairway, he is not going to win any.... Just my observation.... | |
