Charl Schwartzel marked the 50th anniversary of Gary Player's breakthrough first international win at the Masters with another South African triumph, but the moment was probably missed by most people back home.

When Schwartzel sunk a birdie putt on the 18th at Augusta National, it was almost 1 a.m. in South Africa.

In Australia, it was 8:50 a.m. Monday on the east coast. From sun-drenched beaches to late office workers glued to television sets in coffee shops, Australians felt a degree of collective pain when Adam Scott and Jason Day came oh-so close.

UL notes :- In Singapore at 8am, everyone already at their desk work or in NSRCC teeing off......and retiree Uncle lau was awaken by a call by his kopi kakis Uncle Chng.... " Ah Lau, Charl Schwartzel won the Masters...TW was not even close....$50 lai lai..!! " pig

You can't win 'em all...golf is so damn unpredictable..
Anyway, anyone who is able to shoot 4 birdies
in the last 4 holes under such pressure on a final
day at Augusta deserve to win the Masters.
Not that the chasing group were playing badly...
Adam Scott n Jason day were right up there...
but Mr.Schwartzel was outsatanding at the right
time n moment.
