| What is our Authentic Swing ? From my understanding is that the very 1st time we pick up a club and swing at a golf ball....thats our DNA Authentic swing. We go thru coach is to improved it to the next few level, hopefully closed to perfection ! For me, i keep changing and toying my golf swings, i guess it because of my work related occupation....that i keep changing things to improved the situation. Do you have your own Authentic Swing or it just a Golf Urban myth ? | |

| To my understanding, there is no standard golf swing. Only some basic techniques to master. The back swing is just to help you generate enough power for your down swing, get the momentum going. The most important part is right before impact, club head must be square and also acceleration after impact to generate power for distance. Some call it "the transition". If you look at Arnold Palmer and Justin Leonard, their back swing sure look funny, but they can still hit a huge straight drive. If you see carefully, the impact and after impact are similar to the rest of the golfers. Whatever you do to help you get a square club head at impact is a good swing. Put more energy on after impact and accelerate through will help you gain more distance from your drive. i.e. increase your swing speed. The following is an extract from www.swingmangolf.com. It will help you understand that to increase distance, you need to increase speed. Enjoy! "Quote" What is Power? Power is equal to distance time force per unit of time. Power = (Distance x Force) / Time So how do you increase your power? Based on this formula, you could: 1) Increase distance (get a longer club) 2) Increase force (get stronger or use a heavier club) 3) Decrease time (swing faster) 4) Combine any of the above three variables. But be careful how you do these things! You could get a longer club, but longer clubs are more difficult for most people to make consistent center-face contact. Remember that for every inch you miss the sweet spot on the driver, you lose 20 yards. All of a sudden your 220-yard drive becomes a 200-yard drive. The USGA allows 48 inch drivers, but only go as long as you can make good contact. I know of some people that hit 43-44 inch drivers farther than 45-48 inch drivers because they hit the sweet spot more often. You could get also stronger, but the catch is that you must be able to maintain the same speed. There are fast-twitch muscle fibers and slow-twitch muscle fibers. If you are adding on slow-twitch muscle fibers, any gain in strength could be negated by the subsequent loss in speed. To get fast, train fast. Likewise, if you swing a heavier club and are swinging slower, you lose the advantage gained by swinging the heavier club. For this reason, it may even be better to go with a lighter graphite club if you can swing it faster. Increasing strength is important, but how strong do you really have to be to swing a 1lb club? Decreasing time by developing speed and swinging faster seems to be the most beneficial and risk-free thing to do. "Unquote" | |

| For me, I am still "experimenting" my swings with different things like: 1) rotating the hip 1st on my down swing 2) delay release of the "cocking" 3) right hand "come in" more strongly during impact
even right down to placing the ball a bit more back, centre or front so as to play with the lofts of each iron etc....
guess its 1 too many things to play with. tat's y still play so lousy! hahhaha | |
