Handicap test is not so much on score but more on rules of golf and ethical conduct on the course. Very Happy

No worry, as Bro S2S mentioned that it all about rule of golf and ethical conduct.
Cheers.

From my understanding, that is not true...

Playing 110 for 18 holes as a beginner in my humble opinion definitely not a bad score..

I still play 3 digit even though I've my hcp for a few years... Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

You've plentiful of choices nowadays....from SSG (Society of Singapore Golfers), My Golf Kaki, SGA Golf Club, Golf Alliance, AA Golf Network, JT Golf Culture, Big3Golf & etc.

All the above can assist you to maintain your hcp without paying a bomb for golf club membership.

They have change the name from handicap test to Courtesy Round. Last time, it is like a test, but now, it is more like a courtesy round to see how you play or can you really play, no longer a test.

Nonetheless, if they see you tops the ball throughout the holes, they may recommend not to issue hcp to you as you may slow down the rest of the golfers and endanger others. The whole idea is to see you can let the ball airborne, have good etiquette, know the rules, etc...

Our KP, who happened to have the same avatar as you, should be able to tell you in details.

Cheers and welcome to RDG!

I also going to take my HCP next year. I might join SSG membership starting from 1st January 2012. So far the annual fee is affordable. I also play 110-120.

Any other suggestion from old good golf kaki's???? Wink

KP, can advice?

Thanks All

Handicap Test or Courtesy Round as it is now called is really not so much as to see a golfer's playing ability but more to gauge a golfer's etiquette, awareness for safety, and some understanding of basic golf rules. However though, there is still some baseline as far as score is concern. For SSG, courtesy rounds are held at NSRCC's Executive PAr 3 course, and the expected score is 45 for 9 x par 3 holes. Shouldn't be too difficult, I think. To receive a handicap index, the golfer has to have at least 5 x 18-holes scores.

In SSG, there is also a requirement for new members to attend a Handicap & Rules Workshop. This workshop allows new members to understand the principles of USGA handicap system and basic Rules of Golf.

Hope this helps Smile
