| QUESTION: Uncle Lau's ball is at rest partly on the putting green and partly on the apron of the green and there is sand lying on his line of putt. He sweeps the sand away with the back of his hand before playing his stroke. What is the ruling? A) Uncle Lau incurs a penalty of one stroke for removing sand from his line of putt. B) Uncle Lau incurs a penalty of two strokes for removing sand from his line of putt. C) Uncle Lau incurs a penalty of two strokes for the method by which he removed the sand. D)There is no penalty for removing sand from the putting green by whatever means. | |

| Ball is round, the contact surface is very small, I wonder how to partly lie on green and partly lie on apron. I think have to make a decision, it's either green or apron. | |

| i will take D also ...
i heard as long as the sand on the green was created by the flight before them, UL is allowed to clear it.
but if UL ball reach that point between green and apron, then his flight mate ball came out of bunkers and some sand splash on UL line of putt, he is not allowed to remove those sand ....
that's what i heard ... | |

| ANSWER: D) There is no penalty for removing sand from the putting green by whatever means. Decision 23-1/1. Loose impediments may be moved by any means, except that, the player must not press anything down on his line of putt. | |
