I don't know how to judge distance on pitch and run; what's your method? You can use PW or SW or LW, it depends on how comfortable you are with your irons. Normally you need to practice with these irons on the range or pitching ground. You know your full swing distance of these wedges, then you should try 3 more position with these wedges. Try full swing, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4 swing. Know the carry distance of these positions for these wedges and you are on your way to lower your score. Hope this helps.

| I think very much depends on how much green I have to work with.... will use the shortest swing possible to get it on the green.... (the shorter the swing, the lesser chance of a screwup)
eg.
5m fairway 45 m green, will usually use a 7 iron with a putting stroke and bump it near...
25 m fairway 25 m green will usually use a 9 iron or pw and do a 1/4 swing to get it on the green and pray that it releases to the pin.....
45 m fairway 5 m green bo pian LL, will usually do a half swing SW to pitch it near, hopefully the ball checks and sit beside the pin
one thing for sure... no matter wat, just get it on the green for a chance to putt and dun leave it short....
