My 2013 Goal : Break 80 at Palm Villa Blue Tee

Might be a joke to set this target...

Currently playing at average 124 (no HCP) at IOI Blue Tee...and 80 might be a crazy goal but setting an easy one will not be motivating.

Please allow me to use this thread to motivate myself to hit this target...

Current problem...

1) Driver - not going straight and sometime can't even launch.

- Shaft might be too stiff but I choose to work on swing consistency first...need to get rid of the mental block thinking that hit hard will increase distance.

Must get a relax and nice tempo...and consistent swing before focusing on distance.. get the ball straight

2) Iron - not on target...not on sweet spot...

- No problem with equipment...but must practise more seriously in range and with brain..

- same problem with driver actually, cant get the right tempo, cant get the relax swing....Must swing relax and get the sweet spot consistently.

3) Physically - too weak too easily tired ...must range more often and get the muscle to remember the swing..

good to see that u had set a target to play 80 at IOI. it would be better to have a target date as well.

work more on you fitness first. without this, you can't even last a hundred balls.

Good to hear you have high ambition, good luck to your quest!

Personally, I think setting an achievable target will make the game more fun. To you, 80 may be just a number. But to most of us, 80 could means months or even years of training and playing. It may hit on your ego at times. I suggest set target as 100, then 90 then 80. The process of getting to these targets could be months and years as well.

Hope you can update us monthly on your progress, tell us how your game, what you have been doing to improve, etc...

I suggest you get a coach at least once a week, work on all departments of your golf game. You should see your score improving soon .....

hmmm very tough...
frankly, unless u work on some kind of pro routine or program full time. i dun think it is possible to achieve that if u r just a social golfer like most of us here.

good to set target but i wld rather u enjoy the game more..

My best ever at Palm Villa was 77, about a year ago. Usually i come back with about 83-88 depending on the combination of 9s, and the Par 3 distances (which can get quite long in PV).

I'd be happy to have a game with you and work out your most urgent areas for improvement.

For a start, all i can say is that if you're not not hitting the wide fairways, you're very very far from achieving 80. Smile

Last played at palm villa 2 weeks ago....was surprised the greens are super good. I can said second best in JB after horizon.

I used to break 80 when I started golf in 94'....sorry hor only 9 holes...hahaha
